As an IT professional you have expert knowledge in one or more programming languages or databases. Because of your excellent understanding of the entire project life cycle, you have the ability to direct project teams in the gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs. This position will own architecture decisions of the System Center products at THD.  These are extremely large business critical implementations.  This role will develop roadmaps for future leases, own and manage the Microsoft relationship as it relates to System Center and serve as overall technical authority for the products.  This role will also be responsible for guiding proper use and stability of System Center products in the environment, managing executive relationships, and realizing value from Microsoft System Center products.

The Architect is responsible for the design, implementation and lifecycle management of technology architectures and application architectures that support one or more application systems. The Architect is responsible for identifying and implementing technology and application solution designs and delivering sustainable, cost-effective business applications based on industry and business research. This position is also responsible for implementation and oversight of sustaining technology governance processes and associated teaching and mentoring of Business and IT Associates in proper use of the technology and application base.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -
Lead design, development, and deployment of technical and application solutions to meet business requirements that are cost effective and sustainable. Deliver conceptual, logical, and physical solution specifications.

Translate business requirements using complex methods and models to determine appropriate system solutions.

Provide input into annual budget planning for technology migrations and project cost estimation.

Research, identify, test, certify, and select technology products required for solution delivery.

Establish and implement technology migration strategies for a specific application or architecture within an IT portfolio.

Lead technology review meetings and ensure appropriate governance processes are followed.

NATURE AND SCOPE -
Typically reports to Senior Architect, Senior Manager, or Director

No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the leadership of a work group: assign and review work, train and contribute to performance appraisal (but not hiring, firing or disciplinary action).

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
•  Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
•  Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
•  Must be eighteen years of age or older.
•  Must pass the Drug Test.
•  Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses

EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE –  9

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -

  • General Architect Knowledge of all Micorosft System Center Products
  • Expert Level knowledge of SCCM, SCOM, and SCORCH
  • Firm Understanding of the Windows Platform (Server and Desktop) and Microosft SQL ServerKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -
    Expert technical proficiency in one or more of the following: Retail applications, Windows platform, UNIX platforms, MVS COBOL, JAVA, J2EE, Relational Databases, Websphere Application Server, Websphere Commerce, Websphere MQ, Networking (Voice, LAN, WAN), SAP, Siebel, Peoplesoft.Comprehensive understanding of systems, applications, and/or networks so that practical solutions can be provided that factor system performance, usability, quality, cross-system interdependencies, scalability, and overall cost to develop and maintain.

    Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

    Strong oral and written communications skills.
